Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Everything you need to know to extend your stay safely and smoothly.
How long is a Vietnam E-visa valid?
+
Vietnam E-visas are currently issued for a maximum of 90 days, either single-entry or multiple-entry. Note that the E-visa expiration date must be at least 30 days before your passport expiration date.
Can I apply for a new E-visa myself while inside Vietnam?
+
No. According to Vietnamese immigration law, E-visas can only be issued to foreigners who are outside Vietnam. If you are inside the country, you must exit (via Tour Visa Run or return to your home country) and then apply for a new E-visa to re-enter.
What is a Tour Visa Run? Is it legal?
+
A Tour Visa Run involves a day tour exiting Vietnam through an international border crossing (by land or air, such as Cambodia or Laos) and immediately re-entering the same day with a new E-visa. This is a common, transparent approach for tourist and business purposes; immigration policy can change — please check official sources before travelling.
What do I need to prepare before going on a Tour Visa Run?
+
You need to prepare your original passport (valid for at least 6 months), a soft copy of your new approved E-visa, a 4x6 passport photo with a white background (if applying for a Cambodian border visa), and the border stamping fee (usually included in the package — please re-check with the operating unit at the time).

Travel Insurance for Foreigners Visiting Vietnam 2026: Do You Need It & Key Gotchas
Travel insurance is NOT required to enter Vietnam — but most foreigners should still get it, because international hospitals demand upfront payment and emergency/evacuation costs are high. Here's a guide: why you need it, what to look for in a policy, and a big trap: many policies exclude motorbike accidents if you don't hold a valid licence.
Bringing Cash into Vietnam 2026: Declaration Limits for Foreigners
You can bring unlimited cash into Vietnam — but above a certain threshold you must declare it at customs. Here's a guide: the USD 5,000 / VND 15,000,000 limit, what counts and what doesn't, how to declare and why to keep the receipt, the rules on gold, and the penalty for not declaring.
Can You Change Your Visa Type Inside Vietnam 2026? (Tourist → Work)
You're in Vietnam on a tourist/E-Visa and you've found a job — can you convert straight to a work visa without flying out and back? The answer isn't a simple yes or no: conversion in-country is possible, but only for eligible cases. And one key point: a visa run does NOT turn a tourist visa into a work visa.
